American Airlines says they're working closely with DFW Airport to resolve what tower workers claim is a safety concern. Ric Loewen with the National Air Traffic Controllers Association tells 1080-KRLD that American is using tugs to get planes from hangar to hangar so they don't have to crank up the engine.
It saves fuel, but with no engine or generator running, neither are the lights on the outside of the plane. When the planes are turned a certain way at night, Loewen says they can't be see from the tower.
In a statement, American says they're working with airport officials to resolve the issue of visibility and aircraft in tow.
