Business Tax Falling Short

The state’s Revenue Estimator, John Heleman, tells the Senate Finance Committee that the new business tax isn’t bringing in as much money as estimators thought it would.  He says when it’s all said and done the tax will probably bring in around 4.5 billion dollars.  It was estimated to bring in around 5.9 billion dollars.
Heleman says the good new is that other taxes, like sales taxes, are bringing in more money that projected so the business tax shortfall can be made up this time around.  Final business tax figures won’t be known until November.
