City Leaders Want Crackdown On Strip Clubs After 12 Year-Old Found Stripping
City leaders are calling for a crackdown on strip clubs after a 12 year-old was found dancing nude in one club and two 13 year-olds were arrested for prostitution outside another.
But, it might be tough to shut them down. It is because of the way the city ordinance is written. Police don't have the authority to automatically revoke the Diamond Cabaret's license just because a 12 year-old was found stripping inside. However, they can revoke a license if there are two convictions for sex-related crimes in a 12 month period.
Club Metropolis is also under investigation after two 13 year-olds were arrested for prostitution. One's accused of actually recruiting the other.
An unlikely scenario according to Police Lt. Ches Williams who says it is more than likely an adult recruiting those kids.
A 27 year-old stripper and a 22 year-old man are facing charges for what police say was their role in getting the 12 year-old to strip.
