Dallas Police Lead On Chase After An Officer-Involved Shooting

A Dallas Police Spokesman tells 1080 KRLD an officer shot a man who then led police on a chase into University Park on Sunday morning. Polce said officers who responding to a disturbance call near I-35 and Woodall Rogers were trying to talk to a man who was apparently suicidal. The man reportedly made some sort of threatening gesture at one of the officers. The officer then opened fire and shot the man. It's unclear how many times the officer discharged his weapon. Police said the man then got into his vehicle and fled into University Park. His vehicle stopped in the 4400 block of Hyer Street, just south of Lovers Lane near the Dallas North Tollway, and Dallas police took the man into custody. The man was taken to Parkland Hospital for treatment. The man's medical condition has not been revealed. There were no police officers injured.
