Dallas Pushing For Regional Effort To Stop Copper Thieves

Dallas City Hall wants to bump up the profile of the battle against copper thieves, and look at a regional approach.
Mayor Tom Leppert says Dallas already has the strictest local ordinance governing the sale of scrap metal.  But he says thieves can strike in Dallas then sell it in a neighboring city without the safeguards.
Councilmember Linda Koop says she'll push a "regional" ordinance at the Council of Governments.
A briefing on new options for Dallas to consider comes later.
