The former head of Internal Medicine at John Peter Smith now stands convicted of a federal charge.
46-year old Doctor James Shin pleaded guilty to a single charge of posession of child pornography.  He faces a possible 10-year prison term when he is sentenced in October.  Doctor Shin, who also went by the name Doctor Young Jin Shin, was caught with video images of children engaging in sexually explicit acts.  Federal Prosecutors say Shin downloaded the material off the internet last September.  When federal agents showed up at his Southlake residence Shin let them examine the computer and that's when numerous videos of child porn were discovered.  John Peter Smith Hospital is declining comment.
