Two Tarrant County jailers and two maintenance men are recovering from injuries inflicted during Wednesday's escape attempt. Three inmates, one armed with a hand-made blade, tried to break out of the county jail in downtown Fort Worth. They jumped one guard while being escorted to the gym for a state-mandated exercise period. Another guard stepped off an elevator into the midst of the fight and then two maintenance workers on the elevator were also attacked. A swarm of jailers descended on the inmates and restrained them. One of the guards was admitted for hospital treatment. The other guard and the two maintenance men were treated and released. Two of the inmates are locked up on murder charges and the other is charged in four armed robberies.
