A Fort Worth homeowner opened fire on two suspected burglars late Friday morning, killing one of them. Fort Worth Police say the would-be burglars kicked in Anthony Hawkins' front door in the 4400 block of Shackleford Street. What they apparently didn't know was that Hawkins recently lost his job, so he was home, and he had a gun. Detectives say he opened fire on the burglars after they entered his house. They found one of them dead in the street outside, the other wounded in what appears to have been their getaway car. Hawkins was questioned by Police then released.
