Mike Rogers

mrogers@cbs.com

A 17 year veteran of KRLD, Mike Rogers co-anchors the "KRLD Morning News" (5 - 10 a.m.) and produces his daily feature, "The Other Side of the News."  Born and raised in Dallas, Mike attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, earning a degree in Journalism.  That led to remarkably low-paying jobs in places like Grand Junction, CO and Beaumont, TX.  Mike finally returned to Dallas in 1987, working at the now-defunct Magic 102.9 before joining KRLD.

Mike was one of KRLD's primary reporters at the Branch Davidian standoff in 1993, and was on the scene in Waco the day it ended.  He's also covered hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and various man-made disasters as well, including most of the Cowboys' recent playoff games.  More recently, Mike anchored KRLD's coverage of the 2008 Democratic Convention in Denver, and the Republicans in St. Paul.  He's won dozens of awards for his work and pitches for the station softball team, dazzling opponents with pinpoint control and a steady bat.

Mike, his wife Martha and their two daughters, Maggie (17) and Juliet (13) live in Lake Highlands, and are currently in the process of climbing to the highest point in all 50 states. They've knocked off 32 so far, including Guadalupe Peak in far West Texas, Hawkeye Point, the summit of Iowa (located at the end of a cattle trough on a farm near Sibley), and most recently, Mt. Elbert in Colorado (14,440’), the descent from which resulted in the first-ever nighttime horseback search-and-rescue operation by the Lake County Sheriff's Department.

A long-suffering Rangers fan, Mike is convinced that his team WILL win the World Series before he dies.  If that doesn't happen, he'd like his ashes raked into the warning track at the Ballpark to ensure he's there when they do.
