One North Texas City Cancels Their July 4th Events

In the down economy one local city has canceled its July 4th celebration.
During last summer's budget deliberations, the Garland City Council decided to suspend Garland's annual Independence Day festival.. It was determined that funding the event would not be appropriate while cutting back in other areas impacting jobs, City services and critical infrastructure improvements.
For the time-being, Star Spangled Fourth will be retired. It is possible the City might revive it sometime in the future when it might be more economically feasible.
