Storm Damage Mounts Statewide

In just the first three months of this year insured losses due to storm damage tops the $270 million mark.  That of course doesn’t count even more storm damage seen across Texas this week.
Insurance Council of Texas Spokesman Mark Hanna says the worst may be yet to come.  “We’ve got the rest of May and the month of June which normally in Texas we have the worst outbreak of tornadoes as well as fatalities.”  Once severe weather and tornado season backs off then we are right in the middle of hurricane season.
Hanna says the damage has been worse elsewhere but Texas certainly hasn’t been immune.  “Just across the country it’s already becoming a record setting year for number of tornadoes and number of tornado fatalities, luckily it’s bypassed most of Texas but we’ve had out share of severe weather already this year.”
