Texas Atop The Country For Corporal Punishment In Schools
A new study on corporal punishment in America's public schools shows that 40 percent of all paddlings occur in just two states : Mississippi and Texas.
A group called Human Rights Watch says in all more than 250 thousand kids got spanked in the 2006-2007 school year. And that's in just 21 states. The other 29 don't allow corporal punishment.
This study also shows blacks and Native Americans receiving a disproportionately high number of paddlings and also found that boys are three times as likely to get spanked as girls.
