A former Hurst high schooler will be on probation for the next couple of years -- and will fork over a 500-dollar fine -- for spiking a rival's Mountain Dew with laundry bleach. It's been nearly a year since Katherine Smith's name hit the headlines. She was accused of spiking a bottle of Dew she offered to a classmate who had the lead role in the theater department's play at Hurst's L-D Bell High School. Smith was the understudy and wanted the other girl to become ill so she took take over the part. At first Smith denied everything but she later fessed up and pleaded guilty to assault charges -- in return for the offer of two years on probation along with the fine. The other girl never drank the spiked Dew because she smelled the bleach.
