Charley Jones

cmjones@cbs.com

Charley Jones hosts KRLD's overnight talk show, Texas Overnight, which airs from midnight to 4 a.m. Charley is a native Texan, raised in Arlington and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1968. Charley majored in history at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he lettered in marching and concert band as well as the UTA pistol team.

Charley spent two years after college performing western stunts at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington before his love of science led him to head the soils engineering lab for Southwestern Laboratories and the water analysis/quality control lab for Mogul Industries.

An inside tip from a friend got Charley into radio in 1977 when he was hired as the weekend overnight DJ at the legendary "Rock 'n Roll Zoo," KZEW 97.9-FM in Dallas. Charley spent the next 11 years at The Zoo, met and married his wife, Janel, and realized his real calling was radio.

In 1992 Charley left his morning show duties at The Oasis to take a chance hosting an overnight talk show on KRLD and the Texas State Networks. Charley Jones Overnight soon became the most widely listened to nighttime talk show in the state.

Charley and Janel live in Tarrant County with their two children.
