La Croisade Pinot Noir 2007
Producing high quality Pinot Noir (pronounced as Pee-no Nwahr) has been dubbed by numerous wine growers as “the quest for the holy grail” due to the difficult and finicky nature of this grape varietal; however it can also produce some of the world’s most extraordinary red wines. Classically, Pinot Noir is grown in Burgundy, France to make the world renowned wines of Pommard, Nuits-Saint Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin, but it has also found a second home in California and Oregon with unabated fervor. The usual flavor profile of Pinot Noir tends to have notes of cherries, strawberries and raspberries with a floral undertone. In Germany and Austria this grape varietal is also referred to as Spatburgunder.
Specifically, La Croisade Pinot Noir 2007 is an affordable and dependable wine with rich and round characteristics of dried dark cherries, boysenberries and fresh raspberries with a slight hint of dried rose petals. The velvety finish echoes the main flavor profile with an additional note of fresh red currants. Perfect for everyday, but also pairs wonderfully with savory roasted turkey or semi-soft cheeses – such as Morbier (pronounced as Mor-bee-ay.)
