DALLAS (AP) _ The bodies of a Garland man and his 10-year-old son were found in a park in what police believe was a murder-suicide.
Police identified the dead as 37-year-old Matthew Jason Knapp of Sachse and his son, Brody. A pistol was near the bodies when they were found Friday morning in nearby Garland.
A few hours after the Knapp family filed a missing persons report with Sachse police, a man walking a dog discovered the bodies in One Eleven Ranch Park, located near Firewheel Golf Course. Knapp and his son didn't return home from church Thursday evening.
Garland police spokesman Joe Harn tells The Dallas Morning News that Knapp had no known criminal history.
An autopsy will determine the official cause of death.
