Homeowners In Fight Over Private Airstrip

A Carrollton city board will take up a contentious fight today between the owner of a private airstrip and plane owners who use it.
The residents who live around the airstrip near the Bush Turnpike and Plano Parkway say they bought their homes specifically so they can taxi their planes out of their own hangers in their backyards taxi a few feet and take off.  But they say runway owner Henry Billingsley wants to break his contract so he can tear the runway down and build upscale shops  And they accuse him of intentionally letting the property's condition slide so it violates city ordinances hoping the city will shut it down.
Lawyer Sawnie McEntire says on Monday a judge slapped Billingsley with an order.  Today the Carrollton Property Standards board will decide the matter.
One resident tells me if Billingsley doesn't clean up the land the homeowners will so they can keep the airstrip open.
