Nearly two dozen valuable beef cattle died in Denton County apparently because a locked gate kept them from getting to water last week when temperatures were 99 or higher each day. The two-year-old Black Angus were discovered dead in a pasture near Sanger yesterday and evidence suggests they had been dead for about five days. The gate leading from the pasture to a water source was found locked but investigators believe that was an accident. The value of the animals was about 12-thousand dollars.
