We now know a little more as to why the 6 Flags roller coaster was abruptly shut down Monday. 6 Flags spokeswomans Sharon Parker says engineers have determined that due to the extremely hot and dry conditions, a portion of the wooden track contracted causing a slight misalignment. The coaster was stopped, mid ride around 2pm Monday after a ride supervisor detected an error with one of the cars. Parker says engineers are working around the clock to get the wooden coaster up and running as soon as possible. The ride had already been scheduled to undergo 10 million dollars in renovations once the season ends.
