The wife of former Tarrant County Judge and long-time Arlington mayor Tom Vandergriff died over the weekend. For 26 years, Anna Waynette Vandergriff was the first lady of Arlington. She was considered a tireless supporter of her native city and of her husband's politcial career which included a short stint as a U-S Congressman and 13 terms as Arlington mayor. She graduated from Arlington High School and North Texas Agricultural College which later became the University of Texas at Arlington. Last month, she was diagnosed with leukemia and she died Saturday at age of 82. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
