New HOV Lane Opens Today

A new HOV lane that will ease the drive home for many of the thousands who work in Dallas and live in Tarrant County.
As is the case anytime we get a new lane on a major freeway here in North Texas these days, the lane opening up today on I-30 from Sylvan just west of Downtown Dallas to Loop 12 is an HOV lane.  But, even if you're solo, DART says this new lane will loosen up a lot of the volume as you head home in the afternoon.
The lane will be open from 3 in the afternoon until 7 in the evening, and will link the existing HOV lane that runs out to Highway 360 on the Tarrant County line.  If nothing else, the new HOV lane is sure to help the traffic for Rangers home games, because carloads of people headed to the Ballpark will now have a straight shot.
With completion of the 9 mile stretch, we now have nearly a hundred miles of HOV lanes in North Texas.
