North Texas City Makes Top Ten "Best Places To Grow Up" List
A national magazine has looked for the best combination of safe neighborhoods, fun activities, and great education to find the best places to grow up in the U-S. It found one of them right here in North Texas.
US News and World report says Plano is the ninth best place to grow up in in America, largely for its strong school district. The Department of Education has recognized Plano ISD 24 times with National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, and the National Merit Scholarship program singled out 99 Plano seniors as semi finalists. But mayor Phil Dyer says Plano is great for kids even when they're not in school adding they have great athletic facilities and parks.
And the magazine says housing prices are lower than in many other places, at 213-thousand dollars. For many, that means more disposable income to spend doing things with their kids.
Virginia Beach was the number one spot in the nation to grow up.
