A group that tracks traffic congestion says it's found the worst bottleneck in North Texas.
The worst spot in North Texas is the North Loop and Rufe Snow in North Richland Hills.
GPS software group INRIX says the westbound side of the North Loop is backed up 42 hours a week. Part of the problem used to be the fact that Rufe Snow itself was so narrow, but with improvements, the problem now is blamed on the fact that the North Loop is still only 2 lanes.
TxDot plans to begin a widening project next year, but like any other 'new' lane built in North Texas, you'll have to pay to use them.
That might be the worst bottleneck, but what is the worst stretch of highway? According to TxDot the second worst stretch of highway is right here in North Texas.
TxDot has released the 100 worst sections of highway in the state and 75 from 635 to Woodall Rogers is second in the state. (A stretch of I-45 in Houston was number one)
TxDot says the annual cost of the delay on 75 per mile is just over 8.5 million dollars.
Of course that wasn't the only stretch of highway in North Texas to make the list...we took three out of the top 10 spots.
