Dr. Kevin Gill practices orthopaedic surgery with a specialty in Disorders of the Spine. He is Professor and Vice Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and serves as co-director of the UT Southwestern Spine Center. He previously served as Vice-President, Medical Services at UT Southwestern Medical Center/University Hospital-St. Paul.
His extensive clinical experience involves the diagnosis and treatment of degenerative cervical and lumbar spine conditions including spinal fusions, disc arthroplasty and minimally invasive spine surgery. He participates in multiple clinical trials that investigate motion preservation implants and surgical techniques.
Dr. Gill received his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin. After receiving his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, he completed a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He also obtained a post-graduate fellowship in spinal surgery from the University of Vermont and The London Hospital and Clinic, London England. He has a Masters of Medical Management degree from Tulane University.
He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and American Board of Spine Surgery, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He serves as an Advisory Editor of the Journal Spine and The Spine Journal. In 1991, 1994, and 1995, Dr. Gill and his research group won the Volvo and Camp Awards in Clinical Sciences for International Low Back Pain Research. In 2008 his research group received the Kappa Delta Orthopaedic Research Award for clinical science work studying degenerative disc disease in identical twins.
