TCEQ Sued Over Lack of CO2 Regulation

The TCEQ is sued to try to force greenhouse gas emission regulation. Public Citizen’s Tom Smith says the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality could control CO2 emissions but doesn’t. That’s why his groups is going to take the Commission to court. “The legislature back in 1991 gave TCEQ the authority to regulate global warming gasses but almost 20 years later they have done nothing but delay and drag their feet.” TCEQ Chairman Bryan Shaw says the science on global warming is far from settled and clamping down on CO2 emissions in Texas wouldn’t do much to change the global picture but it would cause businesses to leave the state because their costs would go through the roof.
