Four Hurt In Wise County Plane Crash; Oilman Robert Schumacher Critical

Four men are in critical condition after being pulled from the wreckage of a private plane that crashed in Wise County yesterday. The plane is owned by Fort Worth oilman Robert Schumacher who was one of those aboard. He's being treated for multiple broken bones and other injuries. Two of the other three men, including the pilot, are also at JPS while the fourth man was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist hospital. The pilot radioed air traffic controllers a little before 3 p.m. Tuesday saying both engines had died. The plane crashed in a field near Rhome, shearing off one wing and leaving the nose caved in. The aircraft had flown from Fort Worth to Oklahoma City and was nearing the end of the return trip when it crashed.
