Leroy Tellgren is receiving a 15-year prison term for murdering former Coppell Middle School teacher Kathleen Garza in April. The two had been friends and were seen on surveillance video leaving a Coppell grocery store the day Garza disappeared. Jamie Beck with the Denton County District Attorney's office says the family agreed to the plea-deal because Tellgren led police to the body. Tellgren is eligible for parole in 7 and a half years but Beck says her office and the family have the right to oppose any early release.
