Hundreds of Dallas County residents began lining up before dawn, with the line wrapping around the building, hoping to get free swine flu shots today. But only those in specific risk-groups will be seen.
The Dallas County Health Department is holding a walk-up clinic until 4 p.m. today at the department's headquarters on Stemmons Freeway near Wycliff. The shots are free, but you do have to prove you're a Dallas County resident by showing a utility bill or a driver's license.
The shots are intended for a limited portion of Dallas County residents, specifically those who are un-insured, low-income or who live with chronic illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, asthma and similar conditions.
The county has received only about 10,000 doses of swine flu vaccine, so medical director John Carlo says they'll be especially vigilant to make sure the shots go only to those who are entitled to them.
