Help for Homeowners Behind in Their Mortgages

Help is coming for North Texans who are behind in their mortgage payments. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Treasury Department are offering a free seminar Saturday at the Dallas Convention Center to help homeowners avoid scams if they're trying to refinance.  Jackie Cosgrove with Freddie Mac says lenders and about 100 volunteers will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to help people who want to modify their loans.  Anyone who wants help will need a paycheck stub, last year's tax return and a letter of hardship explaining why they're behind in payments.  If you can't make it to the seminar, you can find help at http://makinghomeaffordable.gov.
