Cervical Cancer Screening Can Wait Till 21, Group Says

While the controversy continues about new recommendations for mammographies there is a separate set of guidelines just published about Pap tests for women.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is now saying that most women in their 20's can have the Pap smear every two years not annually.
The new guideline says every other year is often enough to catch slow-growing cervical cancer and that the testing should begin at age 21 for everyone.
Women 30 and older should wait three years between testing if they've had three consecutive "clear" tests.
