Dallas Police Forming Burglary Task Force

The Dallas Police Department is forming a task force to crack down on the biggest crime problem any North Texas city deals with burglaries.
Property crime accounts for 85 percent of all crime in Dallas, and as we head into the holiday's, police know things like car and home break-ins will increase.  That's why 100 officers, including 60 patrol officers and 40 detectives, will be part of a focused effort to keep an eye on areas where there's a lot of burglaries.  They'll then swarm those areas when they see something suspicious.  The target is those who make their careers out of stealing from areas they work.
The Dallas Morning News reports that one such thief was caught just this week breaking into a car with a screwdriver.
Car break-ins will get special attention, because of all the shopping people are out doing around this time of year.
